What is Real + True?
Real + True is a project that believes the Catechism is not a textbook, a collection of ideas, or a set of rules; it is the faithful echo of a God who wishes to reveal himself to us and desires us to respond.
Receiving the official endorsement of the Holy See in 2022, Real + True is a video and podcast series that makes the content of the Church's teachings accessible to a modern audience.
Visual Development
The function of the Proclamation series is to pique the interest of the viewer and arouse the types of questions answered by the Explanation series.
Key visuals for the videos often center around both the artifacts mentioned in the script and the context or paraphernalia of the “research project”. The same voracious quest for knowledge that sparks the viewer’s interest – that questing after answers – characterizes the excitement and love that should show forth through the visuals and animation.
Homegrown
The team often found ourselves without sufficient stock/archival imagery to pull from and staged and sourced custom imagery. Most notable of these is a fully expressive multi-angle head rig made of up dozens of photos of animator JP Talty’s roommate.
